About Rev. A. Leon Freeman

Rev. Augustus Leon Freeman, Sr. was born on August 1, 1961, in Mobile, Alabama, to Ernest and Delores Freeman. He was named after two influential preachers, Dr. Edward Augustus Palmer and Dr. Leon Taylor, who played significant roles in his family’s spiritual heritage. At the age of six, Rev. Freeman experienced a powerful sense of God’s presence during a Holy Communion service. Even as a child, he demonstrated early signs of his calling by preaching to his sister’s dolls.

Around the age of 19 or 20, Rev. Freeman experienced a defining moment while reading Mark 16:15, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel.” This Scripture stirred a deep conviction within him and strengthened his desire to pursue God’s calling. His spiritual growth continued through the influence of his godfather, Dr. Leon Taylor, his brother, Rev. Ernest L. Freeman, Jr., and his service at Abundant Life Church, where he was ordained as a Teacher under Pastor Woodrow Walker, Jr.

In 1987, Rev. Freeman married Cynthia R. Bond, and together they served as cell group leaders, ministering to individuals and families under Pastor Walker’s leadership. In 1989, following God’s direction, they relocated to Roanoke, Virginia, and joined Deliverance Church of Christ, later known as Kingdom Life Ministries International, under the leadership of Apostle Lorraine Alston. Their family was blessed with three children: Natasha, Leon II, and Jonathan.

Today, Rev. Augustus Leon Freeman, Sr. serves as Associate Pastor at Kingdom Life Ministries International. His life and ministry reflect a steadfast commitment to God, shaped by faith, godly mentorship, and obedience to the call of ministry. From his childhood expressions of faith to his present pastoral leadership, his journey stands as a testimony to God’s enduring purpose and faithfulness.
